The Journey of One Extraordinary Middle Child and his 2 Siblings

Ryder is my middle child. He is 6 years old. Ryder loves being silly. He loves chocolate. He celebrates his individuality.
I hope you enjoy his view of the world as much as I do.

Time on the Road. Time Away. Time to Play.

Our family wrapped up the summer with a Griswold style trip across Texas.  We loaded up the family truckster (AKA Minivan) and headed down to visit Gran, Pop, Aunt Erin, Uncle James and cousins in Texas.  These visits are always fun, but also remind me just how little precious time we get to spend with family when they live so far away.
After several days, we hugged our family goodbye and headed for San Antonio.  We hit the touristy highlights and they did not disappoint.

Ryder was interested in purchasing the weapons at the Alamo.  He did not grasp the "artifact" concept.  I think we need to visit more museums.

.  The Alamo, and Riverwalk were fun for all despite a minor detour to the emergency room.    A little Dermabond glue and we were good to go.
Dick's Last Resort never disappoints.

The highlight of the trip was a final, day-long trip to SeaWorld.  With the help of a dear friend, we were able to participate in some amazing behind the scenes experiences.  Despite the heat, the whole half-dozen was able to hang like champs.

During trips like this I am able to really appreciate the different ages of our children.  While Leah was wide-eyed over meeting Abby Cadabby, Parker could be seen soaking up every bit of information about sea life he encountered.  Meanwhile Ryder was highly concerned (distracted) by his Shamu misting fan and Will was talking me into going on the super twisty roller coaster with him.
Some might consider this kind of trip with four kids chaotic and exhausting.  They would be correct.  I wouldn't want it any other way.
