Several months ago, Luke and I decided we needed to spend some more one-on-one time with kids. While we do a lot as a family, it is not often that do things with just one child. So, we drew names to see who would get to go first and have a Daddy or Mommy day by themselves. It has taken a long time to check off eight separate dates - Leah still hasn't gotten her turn, but she doesn't know so don't tell her - but we are slowly getting our time with each kiddo.

The kids each choose what they want to do on their date. Not surprising, the conversation is what Luke and I have enjoyed the most on these special days. It's great to sit and really listen without interruption. I love to hear their observations and be reminded what is important in their world.

Each one of my people are amazing and different and smart. They change so fast. These kid dates will become an annual event. And yes, Leah will get her turn.
