The Journey of One Extraordinary Middle Child and his 2 Siblings

Ryder is my middle child. He is 6 years old. Ryder loves being silly. He loves chocolate. He celebrates his individuality.
I hope you enjoy his view of the world as much as I do.

Tadpoles

While making the weekly tour around their grandparents farm last week, the kids made a huge discovery:  A large puddle with lots and lots of tadpoles!  Yup, we have actually had enough rain in Oklahoma to have puddles.  They scooped up a bunch of the critters in a bucket and hauled them back to the house.
Is that mud or chocolate?  It's unclear and best we don't ask.

Some were more like tadpoles.  Others were tiny frogs.  Ryder named many of them.  Names like, "Froggy, Mousy, Tiny, Mousy's Little Brother, and Turd Head."

The bucket of tadpoles made it back to our home.  We gave them a little home with rocks and fed them fish flakes.  All the kids loved holding the frogs.  Leah held the frogs very tightly in her excitement.  After two days, we found more and more of them swimming belly up. :/

We decided to let the frogs go in the nice, shady water feature in our neighbors yard.  It seemed like the perfect home and safe from tiny, squeezing hands.

Tomorrow is Sunday.  We will be back at Granny and PaPa's farm.  Someone should warn the tadpoles to grow legs tonight and hop far, far away.  The kids are coming.

  1. I feel so sheltered - never seen a tadpole up close before... I totally get why little Leah felt the need to squeeeeeze them!
