The Journey of One Extraordinary Middle Child and his 2 Siblings

Ryder is my middle child. He is 6 years old. Ryder loves being silly. He loves chocolate. He celebrates his individuality.
I hope you enjoy his view of the world as much as I do.

Little Sister

Ryder and Parker are both great big brothers.  All my fears about jealousy or hurting the baby, really never materialized.  (At least not yet.)

Both boys love their sister.  Parker is very much the biggest brother, who wants to do more parenting and taking care of Leah.  He knows how to pat her on the back to stop her from crying and what to sing to make her smile.

Ryder gives her lots of kisses daily and loves to see her smile, but he still likes time with Mommy.  There are times that he tells me, "Put Leah down and hold me now."  And if I can, I usually do.

When Parker and Ryder met Leah for the first time she was only 20 minutes old.  They came into my hospital room and Luke was holding their new, baby sister.  Both boys were all smiles.
Parker was anxious to hold Leah immediately and check out everything about her. Ryder headed over to my hospital bed.  While I was pregnant, I often told Ryder that I would hold him more often once my big tummy went away.  His first words to me?  "I thought you said your big tummy was going away, Mommy.  Is there another baby in there?"  Thanks, Rye.
Leah today.  3 months.
