The Journey of One Extraordinary Middle Child and his 2 Siblings

Ryder is my middle child. He is 6 years old. Ryder loves being silly. He loves chocolate. He celebrates his individuality.
I hope you enjoy his view of the world as much as I do.

A Minor No More

This guy entered our lives at age 15.  Of course we knew he would turn 18 some day, but it happened in the blink of an eye.  Will is kind, handsome and smart. (And quite a bit of smart alack too.) This school year I have watched him mature drastically.  When he came home to us, Will would not allow himself to plan more than a few weeks ahead.  He now is planning for his future - college, career  - he can see the big picture.  Not only has he challenged himself with more AP classes, but he seems more settled and secure in who he is.  He is an Adams.
Yes, that is a birthday pumpkin pie.
Like any good mom, I accompanied Will to the casino on his birthday.  His smile disappeared with his short-lived winning streak.
Will is a typical teenager in many ways.  He often argues for a later curfew, and the condition in which is keeps his bedroom is always a sore subject with me.  But he is also so much more than a typical teen.  He values family. When I turned 18, I couldn't wait to celebrate with my friends.  Will wanted to be with family.  He makes a point to go to see all the little kids play their many sports and "coach" them afterward. He takes an interest in their lives.  In addition he values being a part of his biological siblings lives as well.
I asked Ryder recently about what he remembered before Will moved into our home.  He can't remember life without his oldest brother.  Of course Leah can't remember "pre-Will" life either.  It's hard for me to remember life without him too.  Even though he is 18, he still has another year of high school.  I am thankful for this time.

More birthday celebrating.

Did I mention I am the Mom of an adult?  How strange is that?
