Ryder is a bit of a junk hoarder. He likes stacks of post-it notes, jars of rocks, bottles of "potions" and piles of pieces of "art" surrounding him. He often goes through drawers in the kitchen or bathroom asking "What is this?" and it is usually followed by "Can I have it?"
The other night after dinner, Ryder got into a desk drawer and appeared with White-Out in his hand. He asked, "What is this?" I explained that it is for when grown-ups write a mistake on paper and want to cover it up. I also added that he does not need it. Ever. The wheels were turning......
Ryder said, "Oh! So if I just write on the wall or something by accident then I can use this to cover it up! Can I keep it?"
I could see the White-Out on the walls in my head. "No, Ryder. You can't have it. You do not need this. Ever."
Defeated, Ryder went in search of another treasure.
