The Ryder Man turned five last week. We celebrated on his actual birthday with brownies at school and then a birthday dinner cooked to order.
On Sunday we went to Chuck E Cheese with friends. Ryder is very happy to be five. It seems this is a much anticipated milestone.

This boy, more than any of my other kids, continues to be my challenge, my heartache and my soft spot. He knows just how to push my buttons and isn't afraid to do so.
Despite my frustrations he is such an amazing little guy. I admire his determination, and total self-confidence. While these traits are what drive me crazy about Ryder, they are also what I hope he never loses. Ryder knows exactly who he is and wears his identity with pride. I know many adults who can't say the same.
Happy birthday, big boy. I love your crooked hat, Hulk flip flops, pocket obsession, love of chocolate and vivid imagination. I look forward to watching the man you will become.
