The Journey of One Extraordinary Middle Child and his 2 Siblings

Ryder is my middle child. He is 6 years old. Ryder loves being silly. He loves chocolate. He celebrates his individuality.
I hope you enjoy his view of the world as much as I do.

Missing One Duckling

After a great trip to Houston for Thanksgiving, we returned home with just 2 ducklings instead of 3.  Ryder stayed to spend a week with Gran and Pop and will return home to us in a few days.  Getting on a plane with just two of our children felt very strange for Luke and I.  Ryder never shed a tear or looked back.  It seems he needed a vacation from us?

These are some of the photos I received in the first 3 days of Ryder's stay.

I think this middle child is having the time of his life.  While Parker has been very mature about Ryder staying in Houston, (He understands that Ryder is not yet in school like he is.) he does miss his brother.  However, the lack of sharing toys, taking turns, and parental attention does seem to have its advantages.
Leah squeals with excitement when we FaceTime call Ryder.  She is a bit lost without her big brother around the house during the day.

I am so glad my little guy has had this time to spend with Gran and Pop.  I anxiously await his homecoming.  I miss his mischievous smile, tight squeezes around my neck, and even his potty humor.

Come home soon Rye, we miss you.  Hopefully you will not be spoiled too rotten when you arrive.  If you are, we may send you back to Gran and Pop.

  1. Erin, this is amazing! I dream of the day the girls can experience time alone with their grandparents. My parents are probably dreaming of that day too. :)
